Chennai: In Tamil Nadu voting is taking place in a single phase for all 234 assembly seats on Thursday. Along with the general public, many celebrities arrived early in the morning to cast their votes, including Rajinikanth, Shivakumar, Vijay, Dhruv, Vikram, Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan, and Ajith Kumar and many others.

What happen when Rajinikanth came to vote?

Crowds gathered at polling stations when Rajinikanth arrived at the polling station at Stella Maris College in Chennai on the morning of Thursday to cast his vote in the Tamil Nadu elections 2026. A large crowd gathered at the polling station, who began filming the 75-year-old actor while he was casting his vote.

Actress Trisha Krishnan also arrived at a polling booth to cast her vote and was seen flaunting her inked finger.

The main contest is between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) alliance and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Chief Minister MK Stalin has promised to make the state a role model for South Asia, while AIADMK chief EK Palaniswami has appealed to voters, especially the youth, to vote wisely.

What are the signs of a three-way contest?

The active participation of actor Vijay in this election has made the contest triangular in several seats. His entry into the fray could impact the equations of both major alliances. Overall, today's voting is considered to be a turning point in the political course of both states. Now it remains to be seen whether Mamata Banerjee in Bengal and MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu can retain their respective strongholds.
